Do you need help with a will?
You may have heard local lawyer Katie Binstock, the Chair of our Elder Law & Succession Law Committee, chatting with Georgia Stynes on ABC Radio recently about why it’s important to have a legal will.
Below are some resources on this topic. If you need assistance, please call the Law Society on 6274 0300 and we can put you in touch with a lawyer or a firm who can help you.
Wills
Every person over the age of eighteen should make a Will. Your Will sets out how you want your property and possessions distributed when you die.
- Read the fact sheet: Making a Will
- Find a firm: select ‘Wills (drafting)’ under ‘areas of practice’
- Find a lawyer who speaks your language: choose from the languages field and select ‘Wills (drafting)’ under ‘areas of practice’
Enduring Power of Attorney
Everyone should have an Enduring Power of Attorney — it’s the only way to control who can make decisions on your behalf if you can’t.
