Important update to members

The ACT Law Society advises that President Rob Reis has tendered his resignation from the President and Immediate Past President roles, effective immediately.

The Council met last night and appointed Vik Sundar to fill the casual vacancy as President until the next AGM, in accordance with the Society’s constitution. Vik previously held the position of Vice-President of the Society’s Council and has held various positions on the Council since 2014. The Council appointed Lisa Quilty as Vice-President; Lisa will serve in this role along with current Vice-President Andrew Allan.

Mr Sundar said he was honoured to accept the role of ACT Law Society President.

“I look forward to serving as President and supporting the important work of the Society. In particular, continuing to drive the Governance Review which commenced in 2024. The Society’s aim is to modernise and align with modern good practice and we are conscious our regulatory role needs our governance mechanisms to be and be seen as good practice.

“I look forward to meeting members at the opening of the Society’s brand-new office space, to be held on 3 March 2025,” said Mr Sundar.

The Council congratulated Mr Sundar and Ms Quilty on their appointments and expressed its thanks to Mr Reis.
