Practising certificate renewals are conducted from early April each year. All current members should now have received an email containing a direct link to renew for 2025-2026.

Members can also log into their Member Dashboard and renew their practising certificate from the main screen.

Processing a Practising Certiticate renewal generally takes around ten (10) business days, however during the annual renewals period (start of April to end of May), this process can take longer.

If your practising certificate has expired by fewer than five years, you should log in and renew from your Member Dashboard.

The renewal period closes on 31 May, 2025.

Please ensure that you click "Done" when you are ready to submit your renewal, (or any other online forms you submit to the Society, such as surrender forms or Certificates of Fitness).

When you submit your renewal application, you should receive an email acknowledging that the Society has received your application and it is being processed. However, some IT systems block automated email communications. To check that your application has been submitted successfully, log in to your dashboard and check 'My Memberships' — you will see your 2025-26 membership appear with a Pending status.

Please note that your membership will not become active until payment has been received (and, depending on the type of membership selected, the Society may also need confirmation of your PII policy). You can access your invoices at any time by logging in to your member dashboard and selecting 'My invoices'. You can also use this section to pay outstanding invoices using a credit card.

You will be able to access your certificate online through your Member Dashboard. Simply log in, then navigate to 'My Memberships', and click on the button which says 'Print My Membership Certificate'.

Only your current active certificate will be available — your new certificate will not be available to print until it becomes active on 1 July.

Instructions on how to apply for the first time, or renew a certificate which expired more than five years ago can be found here

The form to surrender a practising certificate can be found here.

Once your form has been submitted and processed, a new notification will appear on your dashboard, allowing you to finalise your membership change.

If you are establishing a legal practice, there are some steps that you need to complete. Please see the Society's page here
